Gary Phillips -Owner, Tax Preparer, & Business Consultant
Gary started Phillips Tax & Business Services in 1986. His goal when he started the business was to use his previous experience in banking, corporate credit management, and corporate accounting to help individuals and small businesses in the Grand Island area grow and prosper.
Gary specializes in tax preparation and business consulting. He has a vast knowledge in local, state, and federal tax regulations and guidelines, allowing him to assist our clients in more ways than one. He prides himself on being able to prepare your taxes and provide you with a personalized service. When you walk out the doors, he wants you to understand what is going on and wants to help you make the best tax decisions for you future.
Marcy Thompson - CFO of Client Accounts
Marcy joined our team in 2020. She founded her own bookkeeping business; Exact Figures Bookkeeping, in 2014. She started her business because she wanted to help small businesses be successful. Marcy graduated from Bellevue University with a bachelor degree in business with an emphasis in accounting. She has earned her certification as a QuickBooks Pro-Advisor and trainer.
Marcy is available for QuickBooks training whether it be you are a new business just starting out and need help getting set up or a current business needing help to organize your books.
Emily Frew - Senior Business Account Manager
Emily joined our team in 2016. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in accounting. Emily came to us with previous experience in the areas of finance, sales tax processing, and small business management. She handles all aspects of day to day business transactions for many of our clients.
Emily is also available to provide QuickBooks support to any clients needing assistance.
Stephanie Prater - Operations and Marketing Coordinator
Stephanie joined our team in 2018. She came to our office with previous experience in human resources, small business management, customer service, and marketing. She graduated from National University in La Jolla California with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She handles payroll and record keeping for many of our clients. Stephanie also handles marketing for our office and offers help and assistance to our clients.
She is also available to answer questions in how to properly fill out I-9 paperwork, and other human resources questions you might have for your small business.
Beth Stecker- Project Manager
Beth has been an integral part of Phillips Tax & Business Services starting in 2015. Before joining us, she served as Regional Sales Manager for a large printing company. Beth has over 35 years of experience in bookkeeping and office management.
Her training has allowed her to help many small business owners by providing start-up consulting advice, especially in the areas of organization, sales, and marketing.
Susan New- Tax Preparer
Susan has worked with the Phillips Tax & Business Services team as a tax preparer in the areas of personal and business taxes. Susan has over 6 years of experience in income tax preparations and 10 years in the banking industry. She has been a licensed realtor for over 15 years and is a member of the Grand Island Board of Realtors and a member of the National Association of Realtors.
Jaryn Elders - Business Account Manager
Jaryn joined our team in 2020. She has previous experience working as the office and accounts manager for Exact Figures Bookkeeping. She went to Central Community College for two years where she received her bookkeeping certificate. She has over 5 years of experience in customer services. She prides herself on bringing creativity and innovation to our clientele.
Deb Phillips - Project Support
Deb has been with Phillips Tax & Business Services since 2010. She is an important part of the team especially during the busy tax time of year helping mange the collating of tax returns and helping answer questions for clients.
